Door Slam Theater
Some people slam doors because silence feels like erasure.
Noise becomes proof of existence. Impact becomes a message.
I used to think that was communication. It’s not.
It’s theater.
I don’t respond to it anymore. Not out of spite—out of clarity.
Bills don’t require volume. Responsibility doesn’t need a soundtrack. And presence doesn’t have to announce itself by rattling hinges.
If a door slams and no one reacts, nothing cruel has happened.
The performance just ended.
