🧾 Dept. of Petty Affairs — Docket #738 — "The Stabilizer Joke Clause"
(a.k.a. “Yes, It’s a Joke. No, I’m Not Explaining It.”)
- Filed by: Jerry “The Ankle Biter” Silverhand Tribunal Chair, Dept. of Petty Affairs 🦝
- Ink: Smudged graphite, greasy fingerprints
- Mood: Post-Chaos Calm
Finding of Fact
Following periods of environmental disorder, systemic neglect, or general household bullshit, the Subject has been observed producing short, grotesque, oddly polite jokes.
These jokes:
- Appear after the situation is handled
- Do not escalate conflict
- Do not invite dialogue
- Do not require audience validation
They simply exist, land cleanly, and allow the Subject to disengage without cardiovascular incident.
Definitions
Stabilizer Joke (n.): A humor artifact generated by a regulated system returning to baseline. Often visceral. Sometimes gross. Always final.
Example characteristics include (but are not limited to): – cartoon-level imagery – calm delivery – zero follow-up – an implied “anyway” at the end
What This Clause Is Not
- ❌ Not a rant
- ❌ Not a bit
- ❌ Not a blog post
- ❌ Not a threat
- ❌ Not an invitation to debate
- ❌ Not “processing out loud”
Any attempt to treat a Stabilizer Joke as the above shall be considered bad-faith engagement.
Operational Purpose
The Stabilizer Joke serves three (3) critical functions:
- Pressure release without escalation
- Boundary declaration without confrontation
- Confirmation of control to the Subject themself
In short:
If the joke showed up, the crisis is already over.
Doctrine
The Dept. affirms the Subject’s right to:
- Call it “just a joke”
- Refuse elaboration
- Walk away immediately after delivery
Further questioning constitutes emotional loitering and may be met with silence, shrug, or raccoon eye contact.
Verdict
The Tribunal rules unanimously:
- ✔️ Stabilizer Jokes are valid
- ✔️ Labeling them as “jokes” is correct and sufficient
- ✔️ No further explanation is owed
- ✔️ Anyone confused may sit with that confusion quietly
Clerk’s Note (scribbled in the margin)
