The Will to Resist

Dept. of Petty Affairs — Pavement Protocol

Subject: When the Ground Fights Back

She rushed the bus. Didn’t look, didn’t slow, didn’t listen. Gravity handled the rest.

And I stood there, not smug, not cruel—just understanding. Because I’ve been there: trying to beat the stoplight, boots sliding, knees sparking, almost face-first into the asphalt just to prove I could still move fast.

You learn quick: your fingers might be lightning, but your body’s a clock that ticks slower every year.

The pavement doesn’t care about ego. It teaches by impact.

So I didn’t rush to help. Not out of pride. But because I’ve already paid tuition at that school. I know what the lesson costs, and I let her learn it herself.

Tribunal Note: Falling isn’t failure—it’s feedback. Every bruise is a receipt stamped “lesson processed.” The Dept. recognizes the ground as an equal instructor.
