The Will to Resist

Gremlin Risitas X — The Origami Breakroom Saga (Bus-Stop Edition)

[Gremlin Scene — Opening]

Sprouts. The fluorescent temple of pressed egos and discount sushi. I didn’t even come to flex — I just did my job. Stacked pallets, moved cases, kept the aisles breathing. Cashier looks at me, eyebrows up. “How’d you get all those Star Cards?” I shrug. “I did my job.” No victory lap. No speech. Just a truth so quiet it made the ceiling hum.

[Gremlin walks past the new deli guy, side-eye activated.]

I tell him, “Watch it. Don’t let these people press you.” He nods like he just heard a prophecy and I walk off to catch the bus — wind in my ears, peace in my pockets.

Fast forward. Breakroom vibes hit different today. One girl starts mouthing off — the classic ego prelude: “If you don’t talk to me, then I ain’t talking to you.” I smile, lean on the table, and drop it flat: “If you put your ego aside, everything would be fine.”

[Gremlin Scene — Closing]

Silence. Origami time. She folds herself in real time — creased by truth and pride. Meanwhile, I blink, breathe, and win. Same as my old man Jeff taught me — do the job, stay steady, and let noise destroy itself. The bus shows up, headlights cutting through the night. I step on with the same energy I clocked out with: unbent, unbothered, unfolded.

[El Risitas laugh echoes from the back of the bus.]
