There’s a specific kind of problem that never announces itself. It doesn’t argue. It doesn’t escalate. It just quietly hands you a towel.

A shared system is used. The system is technically “complete.” But something essential is missing when you arrive.

The floor is wet. The rugs are gone. No note. No reset. No acknowledgment.

So the system doesn’t fail — it offloads.

Someone else absorbs the friction. Someone else restores baseline safety. Someone else pays the attention tax.

Retail does this too.

The grapes are priced by weight. The math is correct. The bag is included. The receipt makes sense.

And yet the customer stares at the number like it betrayed them.

Because the system worked on paper, but not in experience.

That’s the common thread:

When a design “works” only if the next person cleans it up, the design is lying.

Not maliciously. Just lazily.

The fix is never confrontation. The fix is never education. Those cost more than the mess.

The real solution is quieter:

Some systems can’t be repaired from the inside. They can only be exited cleanly.

And that’s not bitterness. That’s bookkeeping.
