The Will to Resist

Jerry’s Marginalia — “The Muncher Doctrine”

People think nihilism is the danger. It’s not.

The real danger is finding out the truth and panicking about it.

The Munchers already know the loop. Mario dies, comes back. Fireballs don’t matter. Invincibility doesn’t mean freedom.

And notice what they don’t do.

They don’t revolt. They don’t romanticize suffering. They don’t pretend the system owes them meaning.

They stay functional.

Meanwhile the Koopa is still chasing validation — needing the kill to count, needing the moment to matter.

That’s not courage. That’s dependency.

The Munchers aren’t nihilists. They’re post-illusion.

They understand a rule most people don’t:

Knowing the truth doesn’t require you to burn your post down.

Sometimes the strongest move is staying put without lying to yourself about why you’re there.
