The Will to Resist

Jerry’s Marginalia — “The Rope Test”

In Westland Survival, there’s a moment every long-timer hits.

You stop asking how the system works and start asking why it pretends to.

Premium currencies that aren’t premium. Blueprints you can see but can’t reach. Deals that sell you what you already maintain cheaper.

Then someone says, “Just be patient. It’ll make sense.”

That’s when you throw a rope off a ledge and try to climb down.

Not because you’re stupid. Because the sign says rope, the ledge says progress, and the UI swears gravity is optional.

It isn’t.

Late-game players don’t want miracles. We want friction removed where mastery already paid for it. We want systems to say what they do, and do what they say.

If the rope won’t hold, don’t tell us to climb harder. Fix the anchor.
