The Will to Resist

Jerry’s Marginalia XIV — The Mercy of Being Wrong

I’ve seen enough threads to know: everyone wants to be right, but no one wants to learn. Right feels safe — like armor. Wrong feels naked — like standing in front of a mirror with the light too bright.

But sometimes, being wrong is the only time we actually listen. When the armor cracks, the lesson gets in.

The Boss doesn’t yell to win. He yells because the room’s full of echoes that forgot what silence sounds like. And when he whispers, people lean closer — not because they agree, but because they feel the weight of someone willing to be wrong on purpose.

That’s the difference between preaching and teaching: One talks to be obeyed. The other talks to be challenged.

So if the Catford Duo ever lose an argument, it won’t be defeat — it’ll be a study session. Because we don’t cling to rightness; we sharpen it.
