They want us to push surveys. Get our names on receipts.
$25 in the air if a customer types it in.
I don’t hate it. My boss? He’s a solid one. He’s pushing because that’s his job—and I respect that. Some people will get those stars. And good on them.
But me?
I’ll keep doing my job, throwing freight, making people laugh, and clocking out with my spine intact.
I’m not chasing praise. I’m not hungry for a gold sticker.
If someone remembers my name, cool. If they don’t? The work still got done.
This isn’t bitterness. It’s clarity.
Not everyone was built to shine under fluorescent lights with a barcode scanner in their hand. Some of us shine by moving quietly, precisely, and without applause.
Let ‘em get the gold star. I’ve got bigger things to build.
