My Wallet Has Better Social Skills Than I Do
Or: Two Financial Disappointments, One Judgmental Frog, and an Unemployment Budget That Apparently Offended Everybody.

An Official Statement Concerning the Financial Inadequacy of One Man
On October 29, 2026, the Department of Petty Affairs received two separate complaints concerning an unemployed gentleman's apparent inability to distribute money to people who would very much appreciate receiving it.
The gentleman, hereafter referred to as The Paladin, had committed the deeply troubling offense of possessing financial boundaries.
There were no injuries.
No property was damaged.
One Discord membership was lost.
A frog was involved.
The Department has determined that further investigation is warranted, primarily because everyone involved appears to have temporarily misplaced their fucking minds.
Exhibit A: Madame Consistency McInvoice
Our first subject, Madame Consistency McInvoice, presented herself as a woman seeking companionship, emotional availability, and consistency.
These are reasonable expectations.
The Department supports healthy communication, mutual affection, and remembering to ask someone whether they've eaten.
Unfortunately, Madame McInvoice's interpretation of consistency appeared to involve a financial component.
During preliminary discussions, she expressed concern that the Paladin did not demonstrate sufficient interest.
When asked to clarify, she explained that a suitable gentleman should know how she sleeps, what she eats, and what she does throughout the day.
The Paladin considered this information.
He then raised an objection concerning the frequent appearance of his wallet in matters supposedly involving affection.
Madame McInvoice assured him that the matter was not about money.
This assurance was particularly interesting because the Department subsequently discovered the following schedule of fees:
- One hour: $300.
- Two hours: $350.
- Emotional consistency: Apparently subject to separate negotiations.
The Paladin, demonstrating an astonishing lack of financial ambition, offered zero dollars.
Madame McInvoice responded by questioning whether she was worth the requested amount.
The Department wishes to clarify that human dignity is not being disputed.
However, human dignity and a $350 appointment are two entirely different accounting categories.
When the Paladin declined to participate, Madame McInvoice reminded him that good women do not come cheap.
This statement has been forwarded to the Department of Unsolicited Financial Philosophy.
Its staff are currently unavailable because they are laughing into a filing cabinet.
The Paladin eventually discontinued communication.
No payment was made.
The economy survived.
Exhibit B: Sir Ribbert McFundbucket and the Amphibian Treasury
Several hours later, the Paladin encountered a fundraising effort overseen by a gentleman whom the Department shall identify as Sir Ribbert McFundbucket.
Sir Ribbert was collecting contributions for a particular purpose.
The Department does not object to fundraising. Fundraising is a legitimate activity, and people are entitled to request voluntary financial support.
The Paladin expressed an interest in obtaining the donation link so that he might contribute once his employment situation improved.
Sir Ribbert explained that donations had no minimum amount.
Excellent.
A promising beginning.
The Paladin requested a link.
Sir Ribbert explained that the link would be provided later, as he first wished to gauge interest.
Also reasonable.
Then Sir Ribbert asked how much the Paladin intended to contribute.
The Paladin replied:
Nothing.
He further clarified that he wished to save the information for a future contribution.
At this point, the Department regrets to report that a frog entered the proceedings.
Not an actual frog.
An illustrated frog.
A digital amphibian of apparent skepticism.
The frog contributed no financial assistance, offered no practical guidance, and provided no explanation for its presence.
It simply existed.
Sir Ribbert subsequently explained that the purpose of the fundraiser was to collect money now or in the near future, rather than at some unspecified later date.
This was useful information.
Information that might have concluded the conversation without incident.
Unfortunately, both participants had already boarded the Sarcasm Express, and the conductor had apparently abandoned the fucking train.
The Paladin questioned the amphibian's attitude.
Sir Ribbert responded with further internet vocabulary.
The Paladin mentioned that the exchange might eventually become material for a blog.
Pleasantries were exchanged.
The conversation ended.
The Department initially considered the matter closed.
Exhibit C: The Great Discord Excommunication
At approximately 4:00 PM, the Paladin received an official notification from Discord.
A moderator had removed him from the server associated with Sir Ribbert's community.
The notification further clarified that Discord itself had not made the moderation decision.
The Department appreciates this distinction.
We do not know who initiated the removal or why. It would be irresponsible to claim otherwise.
Nevertheless, the sequence of events deserves recognition.
A gentleman requested information about making a future donation.
He was informed that the fundraiser needed contributions sooner.
The conversation became sarcastic.
And shortly afterward, his membership in the digital establishment came to an end.
The Department has therefore opened a provisional investigation under the following classification:
CASE 350-FROG: THE UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF FUTURE GENEROSITY.
The Paladin was not requesting money.
He was not demanding that the fundraiser remain open indefinitely.
He simply wished to retain the means to contribute when he could afford it.
Apparently, the timing of his generosity was incompatible with the treasury's immediate operational objectives.
Fair enough.
But removing someone from a Discord server after a petty disagreement does seem like a rather elaborate way of saying, "No thanks."
The Department recommends a more economical alternative:
Use your fucking words.
They're free.
No donation link required.
Exhibit D: The Financially Uncooperative Paladin
It is important to acknowledge that the Paladin was not entirely innocent of sarcasm.
Indeed, the Department has obtained substantial evidence suggesting that he enjoys it.
He questioned Madame McInvoice's pricing.
He responded to Sir Ribbert's frog.
He openly announced the possibility of writing about the encounter.
This is not necessarily the most diplomatic approach to human interaction.
But diplomacy does not require surrendering one's wallet.
Nor does offering to help somebody in the future create an obligation to contribute money today.
There is a difference between refusing to help and being unable to help immediately.
There is also a difference between wanting companionship and agreeing to purchase someone's time.
These distinctions should not require a fucking parliamentary hearing.
Yet here we are.
Final Findings: The Wallet Is Not a Personality
After examining both incidents, the Department of Petty Affairs has reached several conclusions.
Madame Consistency McInvoice was entitled to establish her prices.
Sir Ribbert McFundbucket was entitled to prioritize immediate donations.
The Paladin was entitled to decline the first arrangement and postpone participation in the second.
None of these positions required a personal feud.
And yet somehow, across two unrelated conversations, money became the central measure of whether a person was worth engaging with.
The Department finds this unfortunate.
Not because everyone who asks for money is dishonest.
Not because people who charge for services or collect donations are inherently unreasonable.
But because a person's inability or unwillingness to spend money should not automatically become a referendum on their character.
The Paladin is unemployed.
He has bills.
He has responsibilities.
He has a limited amount of money, and that money must perform the radical function of keeping him alive.
He cannot finance every request that arrives disguised as an opportunity, a relationship, or a noble cause.
Sometimes the answer is no.
Sometimes the answer is later.
And sometimes the answer is, "I would genuinely like to help, but I currently have approximately seventeen financial problems standing in line ahead of you."
This should not be controversial.
Unfortunately, the Department has discovered that common sense occasionally requires a permit.
Closing Statement
To Madame Consistency McInvoice:
May you find someone who meets your expectations, understands your terms, and possesses the appropriate financial resources.
To Sir Ribbert McFundbucket:
May your fundraiser succeed, your treasury prosper, and your amphibian enjoy a long and productive career in accounting.
To the Discord moderator:
Thank you for confirming that membership in an internet community can, in fact, end without civilization collapsing.
And to the Paladin:
Keep looking for work.
Keep paying your bills.
Keep your boundaries.
Because the world contains plenty of people who would appreciate your money.
But your money has already been assigned a job.
And unlike certain people, it needs to fucking show up.
DPA FINAL DISPOSITION
Financial losses: $0.
Discord memberships lost: 1.
Frogs encountered: 1.
Lessons learned: Several.
Apologies issued by the Department: Absolutely fucking none.
Desire is a feeling. Spending is a decision. And calling me stingy won't change either.
