THE APPLE PIE OF DOOOOOOM!
How One Southern Grandma Became the World's Most Considerate Supervillain
By Jerry “The Ankle-Biter” Silverhand
There comes a time in every villain's life when they must make a choice.
Do they construct a death ray?
Raise an army of undead?
Summon an ancient cosmic horror to swallow the sun?
Or do they put on an apron, preheat the oven to 375 degrees, and bake the finest goddamn apple pie this miserable planet has ever tasted?
Grandma chose the pie.
And frankly, humanity should've seen this shit coming.
CHAPTER ONE: THE BIRTH OF EVIL
It started innocently enough.
Grandma had spent decades watching people make stupid decisions.
Politicians making promises they couldn't keep.
Corporations treating employees like disposable napkins.
People lying, cheating, manipulating, and generally behaving like somebody had replaced their common sense with expired mayonnaise.
And every single time, somebody would inevitably cry:
“WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?!”
Grandma had heard enough.
She stood up from her rocking chair, adjusted her spectacles, and whispered the words that would forever change human history.
"Well, bless their little hearts."
Thunder cracked.
Lightning illuminated the kitchen.
Somewhere, an angel dropped its trumpet.
Grandma reached for the cinnamon.
THE AGE OF ACCOUNTABILITY HAD BEGUN.
CHAPTER TWO: THE MOST TERRIFYING VILLAIN IN HISTORY
The world's greatest heroes assembled.
They expected a fortress.
A throne made of skulls.
Perhaps a giant mechanical spider with laser cannons.
Instead, they found a quaint little cottage with flower boxes beneath the windows.
A welcome mat read:
COME ON IN, SUGAR.
Inside sat Grandma.
Knitting.
A freshly baked apple pie rested on the windowsill.
The leader of the heroes stepped forward.
"WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE!"
Grandma smiled.
"Well, that's wonderful, darlin'. Would you like some sweet tea?"
"YOU'RE AN EVIL SUPERVILLAIN!"
"Oh, honey. That's such a harsh word."
"THEN WHAT DO YOU CALL YOURSELF?!"
Grandma adjusted her spectacles.
"A woman who's tired of everybody's bullshit."
The heroes exchanged nervous glances.
Somewhere in the distance, a raccoon applauded.
CHAPTER THREE: THE APPLE PIE OF DOOOOOOM
The heroes demanded to inspect the pie.
Grandma obliged.
They ran every test imaginable.
Poison?
Negative.
Radioactivity?
Negative.
Dark magic?
Negative.
Unholy ingredients?
Negative.
High-fructose corn syrup?
"Good heavens, no!" Grandma exclaimed. "I have standards!"
The pie was perfect.
Golden crust.
Tender apples.
Butter.
Cinnamon.
Just enough nutmeg to make a grown man reconsider every inferior dessert he'd ever eaten.
The world's leading scientists agreed:
THIS WAS THE GREATEST APPLE PIE EVER BAKED.
The heroes were horrified.
"THEN WHY DO YOU CALL IT THE APPLE PIE OF DOOOOOOM?!"
Grandma folded her hands.
"Because, sugar, you're all so busy looking for evil in the pie that you haven't noticed the consequences waiting outside."
"WHAT CONSEQUENCES?!"
Grandma pointed toward the window.
Outside, the consequences of decades of bad decisions were arriving.
Broken promises.
Unpaid debts.
Abused trust.
Neglected responsibilities.
Every lie that had finally caught up with its owner.
The heroes stared.
Grandma cut another slice.
"Oh, don't look so surprised. Y'all ordered this yourselves."
CHAPTER FOUR: THE COMFORTABLE BED OF CONSEQUENCES
One particularly furious visitor stormed through Grandma's front door.
"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!"
Grandma looked up from her knitting.
"Now, sugar, that's a mighty serious accusation."
"YOU'RE ENJOYING THIS!"
"Well, I certainly enjoy a good afternoon."
"YOU'RE EVIL!"
Grandma smiled.
"Of course, darlin'. Would you prefer a firm mattress or memory foam?"
The visitor blinked.
"What?"
"I've prepared the guest bedroom. Fresh sheets, orthopedic pillows, and a lovely quilt."
"WHY?!"
"Because you've made your bed, honey."
Grandma leaned forward.
"And I intend to make damn sure it's comfortable while you lie in it."
The visitor screamed.
Grandma offered a complimentary mint.
"Now, now. No need to raise your voice. The neighbors are trying to enjoy their consequences."
CHAPTER FIVE: GERALD THE HEALTH INSPECTOR
Naturally, the Department of Petty Affairs launched an investigation.
Their finest inspector was dispatched.
Gerald the Cactus.
Gerald arrived wearing a tiny identification badge.
He inspected the kitchen.
The countertops were spotless.
The ingredients were fresh.
The oven was properly maintained.
The pie was delicious.
There were no health-code violations.
Gerald attempted to issue a citation for excessive sarcasm.
Grandma politely informed him that sarcasm was not a foodborne pathogen.
Gerald had no rebuttal.
Jerry the Raccoon, meanwhile, had eaten three slices, stolen the silverware, and begun charging admission to the kitchen.
The official DPA report concluded:
ESTABLISHMENT: CLEAN
FOOD QUALITY: EXCEPTIONAL
VILLAINY: QUESTIONABLE
CUSTOMER ACCOUNTABILITY: CATASTROPHIC
GERALD: EMOTIONALLY COMPROMISED
CHAPTER SIX: THE FINAL CONFRONTATION
Eventually, the world's leaders gathered outside Grandma's cottage.
They demanded her surrender.
They brought armies.
Tanks.
Aircraft.
A truly unnecessary number of lawyers.
Grandma stepped onto the porch carrying a tray.
"Afternoon, everybody!"
"WE DEMAND YOU END YOUR REIGN OF TERROR!"
"Oh, sweetie. I haven't terrorized anybody."
"YOU'VE MADE THE ENTIRE WORLD SUFFER!"
Grandma tilted her head.
"Did I make those decisions for you?"
Silence.
"Did I tell you to lie?"
Silence.
"Did I tell you to mistreat people?"
More silence.
"Did I force you to ignore every warning until your chickens came home to roost?"
A general nervously raised his hand.
"Technically, ma'am, no."
Grandma beamed.
"Well, there we go! Progress!"
She began distributing pie.
One slice per person.
No charge.
No hidden fees.
No subscription.
No $5.99 premium unlock to discover whether the whipped cream was included.
Just good old-fashioned hospitality.
And a generous helping of consequences.
EPILOGUE: THE EVIL THAT NEVER WAS
History would remember Grandma as one of the most feared supervillains of the modern age.
Not because she conquered nations.
Not because she destroyed cities.
Not because she threatened to burn the planet down.
But because she committed the greatest act of villainy imaginable:
SHE REFUSED TO CLEAN UP EVERYBODY ELSE'S FUCKING MESS.
She didn't manufacture anyone's downfall.
She didn't need to.
She simply watched people build their own disasters, then offered them a comfortable place to sit while the results arrived.
Some called her cruel.
Others called her heartless.
Grandma called it Tuesday.
And when the last angry visitor finally departed, she returned to her rocking chair, poured herself another cup of sweet tea, and admired the sunset.
Jerry sat beside her, licking apple filling off his paws.
Gerald remained on the windowsill, contemplating whether cactus discrimination was covered under federal employment law.
Grandma smiled.
"Well, boys, I suppose we've done enough evil for one day."
Jerry burped.
Gerald said nothing.
Grandma cut herself another slice of pie.
"Tomorrow, we're making peach cobbler."
Somewhere across the planet, humanity collectively shuddered.
