The Will to Resist

The Bowl, the Burn, and the Clown

It started with a song. A soft melody over a harsh truth—the kind of pairing that rips something open without asking permission. I didn’t expect to cry. But I did. For all the right and wrong reasons.

I watched a clown smile in a short animated PSA, her laughter stitched over the haunting undertones of real pain. I followed the rabbit hole and found myself staring into the eyes of a curled-up German Shepherd, broken, shaking, silent. ā€œShe must’ve done something bad,ā€ the narrator said—and my chest cracked.

I didn’t just cry.

I bought 48 stainless steel bowls for a local shelter. Because someone had to do something real.

This isn't about praise. It’s about not being numb. Not letting the world rot while we pretend not to see. It’s about burning quietly, fiercely, and never letting that fire go cold.

I’ve been cruel before. I’ve struck out in anger. I’ve made my peace with that past by doing better. Loving harder. Protecting the soft, the broken, the scared—because if I don’t, who will?

This isn’t virtue signaling. This is the price of memory.

God flooded the earth. I just burn the rot.

And if you ever hear me say: ā€œI stared into the abyss, and the abyss blinkedā€¦ā€

Know I meant it. And the swing of mine should be the least of your problems.
