The Will to Resist

The Joker’s Testimonies #029

Anon: “Joker, why do you laugh when things fall apart? Shouldn’t you be worried, like everyone else?”

The Joker: “Worried? Oh, Anon, no, no, no… that’s their job. See, worry is the background music of the mob. It’s how they convince themselves they’re ‘doing something.’ Me? I laugh because the ending is already written. And the punchline? It’s not that things fall apart. It’s that they thought they could hold it together forever.”

Anon: “So… you’re saying it’s hopeless?”

The Joker: “Hopeless? No. Hilarious? Yes. The world doesn’t end in fire or ice. It ends in irony. And irony is always funny, if you’ve got the stomach for it.”
