The Will to Resist

The Joker’s Testimonies #035

"Where the Joke Ends and Truth Begins"

Anon asks: Why do you laugh, Joker? When the world keeps breaking things you cared about?

The Joker: laughs softly — not the mad kind, but the tired kind that’s still choosing to sound alive. Because if I stop laughing, it means they’ve won. The world breaks what it fears, mocks what it can’t fix, and folds people like paper just to pretend it’s in control. But me? I turn it into a punchline.

Laughter’s my armor, kid. It’s the last trick I’ve got that they can’t steal, tax, or regulate. I laugh because it hurts. I laugh because it heals. I laugh because the moment you stop seeing the joke, you start mistaking pain for purpose — and I’ve been down that road.

He pauses, grin fading into something almost human. “You think I laugh at the world? Nah. I laugh with it — ‘cause deep down, it knows it’s ridiculous too.”
