The Will to Resist

The Joker’s Testimony #008

Unfiled Addendum

Anon: Why do you laugh at this trash?

Joker: Because the punchline isn’t theirs—it’s mine.

They rant about “cartoons you shouldn’t watch,” like a cardboard sign warning you not to look behind it. That’s comedy. I laugh because they don’t see the strings, the editing, the cheap fear-drops. They sell panic like popcorn and call it awareness.

Anon: But don’t you think some things go too far?

Joker: Too far? My dear, there is no “too far.” There’s only how far you’re willing to follow. Kids were fed Heffer on a 666 game show, inflatable boobs on Saturday morning, and Teletubbies doing cardboard horror. Did it ruin them? No. It gave them nightmares and stories—and look, they survived.

Anon: Then why does it matter?

Joker: Because the ones crying about it are funnier than the cartoons themselves. They want censorship to babysit their guilt. They want outrage to parent their laziness. They want to cry instead of teach.

And me? I laugh. Because the moment you protect a child from fiction, you’ve already failed them in reality.
